Matlock Cycling Club – Runner-up in British Cycling National Go-Ride Club of the Year Awards
Matlock Cycling Club is one of over 300 Go-Ride Clubs in the country delivering high quality cycling opportunities for young people. The club registered as a Go-Ride Club in 2003 and achieved British Cycling’s prestigious Go-Ride Clubmark status in 2006. The club has approximately 200 young riders, who access high quality coaching and support to achieve their full potential, as well as a pathway in to cycle sport. The club was recently awarded runner-up in the Go-Ride Club of the Year awards, which is an excellent achievement demonstrating the high standard the club delivers and the high quality opportunities which the club provides for its young riders.
Steve Johnson, British Cycling regional development manager for the East Midlands said of the
achievement: “My congratulations go to Matlock CC on being awarded runner-up in the Go-Ride Club of the Year awards.. The coaches and volunteers work extremely hard to provide opportunities for young people to get involved in cycling. The club are a great example to others and continue to go from strength to strength”.
Richard Thoday, Chairman of Matlock CC added: The clubs strength with coaching comes from a very committed group of volunteer coaches who give up a huge amount of time to provide a consistently full and varied programme of opportunities for young riders throughout the year. This is proper grass roots, low cost sport at its best and the young riders love it.
