Matlock CC Code of Conduct
MCC members, coaches, volunteers and officials should always demonstrate proper personal behaviour.
MCC is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all its members, ensuring a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
The club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators andparents associated with the Club should always, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others.
MCC members, coaches, volunteers and officials should be aware of the individual guidance for behavior shown below:
Guidance for Behaviour: Adult Members (Over16)
All members must respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of age, gender, ability, race, cultural background, religious beliefs or sexual identity.
Bullying of any sort will not be tolerated.
All members must respect officials and publicly accept their decisions.
All members should be a positive role model, treat other riders and officials with the same level of respect you would expect to be shown to you.
All members should always use correct and proper language.
All members must take responsibility in ensuring they are up to date with the rules, understand and
adhere to them.
Members are not allowed to smoke, consume alcohol or drugs on Club premises or whilst representing the club.
Members should arrive in a timely manner for events and sessions.
Members must wear suitable kit for coaching sessions and events.
Members must pay any fees for membership or other activities promptly.
Guidance for Behaviour: Club Officials, coaches and volunteers
Consider the well-being and safety of participants before the development of performance.
Develop an appropriate working relationship with participants, based on mutual trust and respect.
Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part.
Promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play).
Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance.
Follow all guidelines laid down by British Cycling and the Club.
Hold appropriate valid qualifications and insurance cover.
Never exert undue influence over performers to obtain personal benefit or reward.
Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibited substances.
Always arrive in a timely manner at meetings, sessions and events.
Encourage and guide participants to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.
Encourage participants to value their performances and not just results.
Guidance for Behaviour: Parents and Carers
Make sure your child’s bicycle is in good mechanical order.
Make sure your child wears a helmet, with a good fit and worn correctly.
Be aware that cycling mitts / gloves should be worn as well as well fitting clothes suitable for conditions.
Make sure you arrive in a timely manner to complete formalities before the official start time. Bring sufficient cash to pay any fees required.
Inform a coach if you need to take your child for a toilet break or if you intend to withdraw your child from a session in progress.
Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them.
Discourage unfair play and arguing with the officials.
Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.
Never force your child to take part in coaching or racing.
Never force your child to play knowing they have an injury.
Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding the good performances.
Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.
Publicly accept officials’ judgements.
Support your child’s involvement and help them to enjoy their cycling
Always use correct and proper language.
Never coach your child during a coaching session.
