The Darley Moor Sessions

Heads up for your chance for a bit of traffic free riding! Matlock CC are holding coaching and training sessions at the Darley Moor Circuit. These are aimed at EVERYONE in the club. We intend to follow on from our DFS road coaching for the youngsters to practice race techniques and group riding and we also would like to hold coaching for adult riders too. Or if you just fancy a 3 hour window for a traffic-free training session that’s fine too. You could do some group riding / chaingang or TT intervals – its up to you! So we can see how many coaches we may need please could you let us know if you are coming along (particularly youngsters). If you are looking in and not an MCC member but would like to come along you are very welcome to join us....

Dates / Times are:

Wednesday 26th June 6 to 9pm

Wednesday 3rd July 6 to 9pm

Wednesday 10th July 6 to 9pm

Wednesday 17th July 6 to 9pm

Cost:

We will charge £2.50 for club youth riders and £3.50 for adult members (this is priced according to the Darley Moor track charges).

Non Matlock CC youth riders will be £3.00 and non Matlock CC Adults £5.00 please.

It would be great to have as many of the club there as possible to support these sessions! Thanks to Matlock CC Coach Martin Holmes for setting them up.

We will have a wide mix of riders, ages and abilities and so will expect all riders to be polite and considerate throughout. It is a wide circuit and there should be plenty of room for all but we will suggest that slower groups stick to the outside of the circuit. Please communicate courteously between groups so we can all participate safely.

We want this to be a tougher, more serious training session but still fun for all.

We will finish before 9pm

Everyone to ride the circuit in an anti-clockwise direction (as the cycling races are run at DM just in case you haven’t been before). Just a slight aside to this – we are likely to be setting up a smaller circuit for the youngsters which may mean a small part of the circuit has these riders going in an opposite direction – this will be clearly coned / separated so you are aware!

There will be (at least) four Level 2 BC coaches on site and at least four first aiders.

Coaching for younger kids on the small circuit will start at 6.30pm and finish at around 7.30pm – coaches Tina Farr / Andy Woolf pencilled in for this.

Bigger kids should meet at the entrance to the circuit (corner) at 7pm with Martin Holmes and Rob Williams where a briefing will take place. The circuit can be open but all riders must congregate at 7pm at the briefing so that they are aware of what is happening and we can all proceed safely!

Sign on will be in the downstairs room by the Diner kindly hosted by Julie Parker.

We may adapt / change the guidance as the sessions continue to pick up any improvements we can make or feedback received.
